All you need is an old sweater.
They are not really socks in a sense that they are just a long tube that goes from your ankles to your knees. So just wear them over your regular socks and jeans or tights.
Particularly the wool sweaters wash and dry it before you make socks. That will prevent the wool to fraying.
Mine, I did a simple hand stitching around the raw ends. The other end was the cuff of the sleeve, so it was just perfect.
Lay the one you just cut on top of the other arm and use that as a guide to make sure you’re cutting them the same length.
The right length it’s up to you, since there are long legs, short legs etc. Mine I like it from a little above the ankle to right below my knee. I have very skinny calves, which means that when I wear my boots with tights, they’re a little loose at the top making a weird sound when I walk. So, the leg warmers help a lot with this issue.
Now my dears, a word of advice: While they look awesome, as you can clearly see on the pictures, they are NOT, I repeat, they are NOT very styling just over your jeans LOL.
Keep this in mind if you are ever wearing them while catching a flight somewhere. Looking all stylish with your favorite boots, black leggings, thinking you look all chic, stylish, adorable, a total jetsetter. Before you know, you can find yourself in line for the security check and have to take your boots off and be there , exposed to all , in your hacked-off-sweater-arm boot socks over your leggings. Not that anything like this has ever happened to me.
